Going out to dinner with dessert queen Alice Medrich was so much fun it didn’t really matter where we went. Alice was in Toronto on book tour for her new cookie book “Chewy, Gooey, Crispy, Crunchy”.  Scarpetta is part of a mini chain from New York and is Toronto’s first high end, celebrity chef restaurant and although we have lots of corporate style restaurants this did not, good or bad, have a Toronto vibe.  Not to be missed are the braised shortribs with faro risotto, polenta with wild mushrooms and signature spaghetti with tomato sauce.  Desserts were so “interesting” they weren’t delicious enough. My advice - skip dessert and have more appetizers. Service was great.
